TEMPORARY RESIDENCE

Many foreign nationals initially come to Canada on Temporary Resident Visas to work, study, visit family or friends, or for tourism. The visa is typically issued at a Canadian mission serving your country of residence. The validity of the visa can be for a few days or up to a few years, depending on the reasons for your travel and your ability to support yourself while in Canada. It is often possible to extend a Canadian visa once inside Canada.
